Minutes of the BMW Club Europa Annual General Meeting of March 2009 in Munich |
Dear BMW club friends,
Please find attached the minutes of the BMW Club Europa Annual General Meeting of March 2009 in Munich. The official minutes are in German, since BCE is a German based organization. The minutes have then been translated in English. We thank Miss. Kati Hockner for noting the minutes.
The Annual General Meeting had very positive atmosphere and it is clear that the storm of the past years has calmed down and the waters are clear and calm now, so that we can enjoy again the real targets of the BCE organization: to act as a round table between the BMW clubs and to represent the member clubs in the BMW club world and towards BMW AG.
We remember from the Annual General Meeting that following important decisions with were taken:
• The membership fee 2009
Thanks to the restructuring of – mainly – the office of BMW Club Europa, we are able to present a budget in balance – with the exception of the AGM - at € 1.00 per member. For this reason, the AGM has accepted the proposal of the board to bring down the membership fee to € 1 per member / year. This type of membership is called internally = Level 1.
Clubs which want extra services can have a - Level II - type membership. In this case services, like personalised membership cards with own club logo can be ordered. For the full range of possibilities, please contact our office or have a look on the BCE.net.
• Languages English & German
The official languages of BMW Club Europa are English and German. There is no intention to change this. The AGM decided to use English as business language. This system will speed up interaction between BCE and the clubs. For example, we can have one forum on which all clubs can talk to each other in English. We can send BCE Newsletters continuously, without loosing time to translate. Etc. And it is a much more cost effective system, we can afford. We also found out that it is no problem to translate English – with a translation machine – to almost any European language. Off course all legal matters are handled in German (-also).
Our office will continue to use as well English as German for correspondence and our site will still exist in 2 languages. But the system means also that, during international meetings English will be used as basic language, but off course – as we are all BMW friends – we also speak German.
As far as the AGM of BCE is concerned, debates then will be done in English, but the report will be translated in German. The savings of this system equals the total cost of the new office system of a whole year.
• The BMW Club Europa Team
Since March 2008 the board changed first the mentality of the board itself. No more ‘company BCE’, which works as a professional organisation, with a professional office and ‘professional’ costs. The new board works the ‘club way’ and almost all tasks are done by volunteers. Also the board members are volunteers!
Since august 2008 we decided to start the BMW Club Europa Team in order to find specialised BMW friends performing a well defined task. They are BMW club friends who help in the day by day work of BCE. They can be active in many fields. And we can foresee a (small) budget for the costs they have.
We would like to start with the task of ‘ BCE Ambassador’. The tasks of Ambassador are multiple, but fun if the person likes international contacts. The Ambassador can be a BCE Delegate, but can also be any member of a BMW club. An Ambassador can by active in just one country, or in several countries. His task is simple, but important: he is the liaison between his country (or several countries) and the office / BCE board:
- He/she advises the board
- He/she keeps the database of BCE up to date for the clubs he is Ambassador for.
- He/she is the liaison person, who knows the language of the local clubs
• The new board members
We thank Harald Flecker and Thierry Dreessen for the great job they have done in the past year. Especially Harald has spent numerous hours in order to help restructure BCE and he was also the thriving force behind the organisation of the 2009 AGM.
We are happy we can present to you 2 new board members of the BCE board team:
VP Cars : Daniel Fastre
Daniel is for many years president of the Belgian car club: BMW Club de Belgique-Sud, in the French speaking part of Belgium. He also speaks Dutch and English.
VP Finances : Silvio Lokar
Silvio is known by all delegates for many years as the ‘face‘ of Kroatia. With his position as VP Finances, he goes back to his youth, since he majored in economics.
You find all data on our website.
With our best regards
